The Esalen Archive Project seeks to collect, preserve, make accessible and support the use of archival materials that relate to the history and culture of Esalen Institute.
Through curation, development of strategic partnerships, community engagement, and impactful use, we envision that the repository and the materials within it will contribute to scholarship and understanding of the local and global impact of Esalen.
The project will gather existing paper-based, analog and digital audiovisual items that capture the history and legacy of Esalen. The Project seeks to collect these materials, with a particular focus on materials at-risk of degradation (and mitigation of loss ), so as to provide long-term preservation and unified access to researchers as well as the general public.
